People, Progress, and Purpose – Drone Industry Trends 2025

Drone Industry Trends 2025: A Note from Our CEO

As we step into Q3, I’ve been reflecting on some of the biggest drone industry trends in 2025, and how far our team and this technology have come. This year’s been full of change, and the pace is only picking up.

One of the biggest accomplishments in 2025 for AERIUM Analytics was the recent acquisition of all assets from Clear Flight Solutions B.V. (The Drone Bird Company). This move, completed on May 1, 2025, through our new European subsidiary, AERIUM Analytics B.V., gives us the chance to grow internationally and expand our solutions, including RoBird™, for global impact. Read more about the acquisition here!

And while we grow abroad, things are moving fast here at home too.

BVLOS and New Growth for Canada’s Drone Industry in 2025

A major drone trend for 2025 is the expected rollout of Transport Canada’s new BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) framework. With those updates, the landscape for drone operations in Canada is changing rapidly. What used to be long-term goals are now active conversations between government and industry, conversations we’re proud to be part of.

Drone Applications Expanding in 2025

RoBird™ continues to gain traction globally. This is a great example of a solution that’s not only effective but humane. From airfield safety to agriculture, the demand is growing because the results speak for themselves. Our RoBird™ Ambassador Training Program continues to grow as well, preparing teams across sectors to implement safe and strategic bird deterrence where it matters most. Learn more about the program here!

We’re also seeing drones make an undeniable difference in vegetation management. Work that once took teams into steep, risky terrain can now be done precisely, and safely, from above. It’s not just efficient, it’s better for the environment and the people doing the work.

Just ask Courtney Cicoria, our Environmental Field Operations Coordinator, who became the first person in Alberta to receive the RPAS Herbicide Applicator Certificate earlier this year.

It’s a huge milestone and an example of the incredible leadership happening inside our team. Learn more about Courtney’s achievement here!

Looking Ahead: What to Expect Next

At events like Inventures, CANSEC, and the Alberta Aviation Summit, we could tell that drones are no longer a fringe innovation. They’re fast becoming foundational tools across both commercial and public sectors.

This is especially true for Dual-use drones — systems designed for both civilian and defense applications. Their growth shows more industries are adopting drones for critical tasks like infrastructure monitoring and security support.

Looking ahead, we’re expanding RoBird™, scaling up our vegetation management services, and staying at the front of BVLOS developments. We’re continuing to collaborate, with partners and regulators, to help shape the future of our industry the right way.

Thanks for being part of this journey.

Jordan Cicoria, President & CEO
